Forgive Sounds Good

I've been hitting the music vid lists and I've gone to check out "I'm Not Ready To Make Nice" byt the Dixie Chicks. And I like it. I really like it. It's honest; the anger there is real. Not that the emotion in many other music videos aren't, and other songs, but there are so many of the like out there where people use the visual image to promote less than Godly messages. I admire Natalie. She's got guts...for speaking up, even when she would get death threats in reply to her declaration of her beliefs. I like it.

On that note, time to voice a few pet peeves of mine.

"Oh, that's just so gay."

From Wiktionary:

1. happy, joyful, and lively
2. festive, bright, or colourful
3. homosexual
4. ...etc...

I have classmates using that term e'er so blithely and it bugs me. Use it properly. "That's so stupid." Go ahead, sure, fine. But "gay" has a specific meaning and can't you use it for that?
"They did, like, no work at all, just sat around and talked. Like, that's just so gay." ~dryly~ What's so gay? The fact that they aren't working?
Give me a break.
Okay. I'm done ranting for the while...
"I made my bed, and I sleep like a baby
With no regrets and I don't mind saying
It's a sad sad story
That a mother will teach her daughter
That she ought to hate a perfect stranger
And how in the world
Can the words that I said
Send somebody so over the edge
That they'd write me a letter
Saying that I better shut up and sing
Or my life will be over."
"Forgive, sounds good
Forget, I'm not sure I could
They say time heals everything
But I'm still waiting."

Excellent song. Definitely one of my faves, and I agree with Natalie Maines. The whole feud thing with Toby Keith is kind of amusing. I guess he's a red-blooded American that loves his country. I respect both their perspectives, though.
